Ammonia Research at CEH

The programme of ammonia research at CEH covers the full suite of issues from emission, transport and deposition to assessment of environmental impacts. Field process studies are complemented by work in controlled conditions and monitoring programmes. Numerical modelling then provides the means to analyze the results, scale up in space and time, and address scenarios linked to management practices or global change.
In these pages we describe some of the recent and current projects being carried out by CEH on ammonia:

• Assessment of ammonia emissions and their distribution (e.g. ADEPT ).

• Biosphere atmosphere exchange processes (e.g. UK NH 3 deposition , GRAMINAE ).

• Assessing the local recapture of ammonia near farms ( AMBER).
